Police Day Promises Free Ice Cream Cones, Kittens And K9 Demo

Event is Monday at Cows and Cones from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The Ledyard Police Day at will take place Monday and this year, the police union will be handing out tickets for ice cream cones to kids and collecting food donations for the Ledyard Food Pantry.

Sgt. Jim Gilman said kids and adults will be able to look inside the police cruisers, see the lights.

said she will bring adoptable kittens and dogs to the event.

The food pantry didn’t get its normal amount of food donations during the “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive early this month and is in great need of re-stocking, according to Pat Weiner of Town Hall.

Weiner said the following items are badly needed:

  • Peanut butter and jelly
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Fruit cups and canned fruit
  • Any kind of cereal, oatmeal
  • Jello and pudding cups
  • Coffee, instant or otherwise
  • Portable snacks like granola bars, popcorn
  • Juice boxes

Police Day is on Monday, May 28 at in Gales Ferry from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
