Police Make Drug Arrest in School Parking Lot

Suspicious Vehicle at Gales Ferry School Leads to Early Morning Arrest of Massachusetts Woman

Ledyard Police arrested a Massachusetts woman with local ties early this morning after an officer on patrol observed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the Gales Ferry School.

The vehicle, which police observed shortly after midnight, was occupied by four individuals from Massachusetts. Police also found marijuana, packaging material, and scales in the car.

As a result, Sandy Saleh, 31, of 19 Brenton St., Boston, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of marijuana within 1,500 feet of a school, and possession of drug parahanalia.

She was processed and held on a $2,500 bond. She will be arraigned at GA 10 in New London.

Saleh, formerly of Norwich, recently was sentenced to prison for her part in a 2005 crash in Preston that led to the death of a 85-year-old Massachusetts woman. In that incident she pleaded guilty to charges of negligent homicide with a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana and second-degree failure to appear.

During her arraignment in 2010, it was revealed that Saleh had pending criminal cases in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Maine.
