Rhode Island Man Killed In Lantern Hill Road Crash

Two others injured; accident remains under investigation.


A West Greenwich, R.I., man was killed and two others were injured in an early morning crash on Lantern Hill Road near the North Stonington town line.

The one-car crash happened at 2:24 a.m., near 633 Lantern Hill Road, according to a press release from Ledyard police Lt. Michael Finkelstein.

Killed was Ryan Partridge (DOB 04/06/1988) of West Greenwich, R.I. Partridge was "found to be trapped in the front passenger seat of the vehicle which was down a steep embankment." 

Two others were in the roadway when emergency reponders arrived, and were taken to William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich for treatment. They are Michael Paolantonio (DOB 10/14/1984) of 177 Perry Hill Rd, Coventry, R.I. and David Governo (DOB 10/08/1987) of 6025 Flat River Rd, Coventry, R.I.

The accident remains under investigation by the Ledyard Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team and the Connecticut State Police. "nitial investigation has determined that the vehicle involved was traveling south on Lantern Hill Rd when it left the travel portion of the roadway to the west, traveled down a steep embankment and overturned before coming to rest."

Responding to the scene were: Officers from the Ledyard Police Department & Troopers from the Connecticut State Police; Ledyard Fire Department, Gales Ferry Fire Department, North Stonington Fire Department, Center Groton Fire Department, Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad, North Stonington Ambulance, American Ambulance, and Lawrence & Memorial Hospital Paramedics.
