Seniors Sign Up for Everbridge

Ledyard Police Department's community alert system helps residents stay know about news and alerts in their neighborhood.

Ledyard Police Lt. Michael Finkelstein and Resident State Trooper Sgt. James Gilman spent time signing up seniors for the Everbridge Alert System Wednesday.

Finkelstein said residents of all ages can sign up for the service and have important alerts delivered to their home phone, cell phone, via text or email or all of the above.

The web-based service will notify residents of non-emergency situations or issues in their area and residents have to opt into the service to receive the alerts.

The system was used during Hurricane Sandy to alert residents of volunteer evacuations, available shelters and town services.
