Two Car Crash Results In Arrest

New Jersey woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

A Ledyard woman was charged with drunk driving following a two-car crash on Sunday, Ledyard police said Tuesday.

According to a press release, the accident happened at 9:11 p.m., Sunday at routes 117 and 214. Witnesses told police one car left the scene after the crash.

"Through evidence left at the scene, the Ledyard Police Department was able to locate the vehicle and operator who evaded, at (her) residence," said the press release by Lt. Michael T. Finkelstein.

Police said the vehicle traveling northbound on Route 117, drive by Tracey L. Traystman (DOB 10/28/1972) of 113 Spicer Hill Road, Ledyard, ran a red light and struck a second vehicle that was turning left from Route 214 onto Route  117. Traystman then fled the scene, police said.

The driver of the second vehicle, Stephanie A. Miller (DOB 08/07/1993) of 57 N Street, Seaside Park, N.J., suffered minor injuries and was transported to the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich.

Traystman was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, evading responsibility, and failure to obey traffic signal. She was processed and will be presented at GA 10 in New London.

In addition to the Ledyard Police Department, the Ledyard Fire Department, Gales Ferry Fire Department, and Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad responded.
