Two Men Charged in Ledyard Burglaries

Two men from out of town were charged in connection with two December burglaries.

In December, the Ledyard Police initiated an investigation into two burglaries in the Town of Ledyard. One was a residential burglary into a vacant home on Muster Lane where copper piping was taken, and another was a burglary into a building at the Ledyard Sportsman Club from which money was taken.

On February 15 Ledyard Police Department, with the assistance of the Stonington Police Department, arrested Jeffery Chapman, 35, of 72 Noyes Avenue in Pawcatuck. Chapman was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of sixth degree larceny and second degree criminal mischief. Chapman was held and presented at GA 10 in New London.

On March 12 the Ledyard Police Department, with the assistance of the Westerly and the Hopkington Rhode Island Police Departments, arrested James Taylor, 35, of 23 Newton Street in Westerly. Taylor was arrested on a warrant for conspiracy to commit sixth degree larceny and conspiracy to commit third degree burglary in connection to the vacant house burglary.

Taylor was held by the Westerly Police Department on numerous warrants issued in Rhode Island. He will be presented at GA 10 in New London upon his release from Rhode Island. The New London Police Department also assisted in this investigation.
