Ledyard, State Police Beefing Up DUI Patrols For Labor Day

And the full list of where state police officers will be doing roving patrols and sobriety checks.

 

The , along with the Connecticut State Police and most other police departments in the state, is stepping its patrols this Labor Day weekend to target drunk drivers, speeders and distracted drivers.

Ledyard will have an extra two to three extra officers on patrol this Labor Day weekend searching for drunk drivers and enforcing other motor vehicle violations. The shifts are part of the Federal Highway Safety Program. Meanwhile, Connecticut State Police will be conducting roving patrols and sobriety check points throughout the state.

And Connecticut State Police are stepping up DUI enforcement big-time with roving patrols on Routes 2 and 2a and Interstate 395 and sobriety checkpoints in areas of Route 2a and Route 32, Route 85 and Beckwith Road and Route 163 and Interstate 395. 

CSP's mobil breath alcohol testing unit is being pressed into action, too, in the area of Route 163 and Interstate 395.

The full list of roving patrols and sobriety checkpoints the state police will be conducting this weekend, starting with the local spots first, is as follows:

Eastern Connecticut

September 1

Roving Patrols: Routes 2, 2a, 12, 164, 165, 214, and Interstates 95 and 395 in towns of East Lyme, Groton, Lisbon, New London, North Stonington, Stonington, Waterford, Norwich, Montville, Preston, and Griswold

DUI Sobriety Checkpoints: Routes 2a/32, Route 85 and Beckwith Road and Route 163 and Interstate 395. This will be in conjunction with the Breath Alcohol Testing Mobil Unit.

Roving Patrols: Routes 2, 66, and Interstate 394 at Routes 6, and 44, Route 6 at Route 66 and Route 32 at Route 2 to include towns of Marlborough, Bolton, Columbia, and Bozrah.

Roving Patrols: Routes 6, 12, 14, 44, 97, 169, 197, 198, and Interstate 395 in Killingly, Brooklyn, Thompson, Woodstock, Chaplin, Hampton, Eastford, Sterling, Putnam, and Pomfret

Roving Patrols: Routes 32, 44, 74, 83, 190 and Interstate 84 including towns of Stafford, Tolland, Ellington Mansfield, Willington, Somers, Union, and Ashford

September 2

DUI Sobriety Checkpoint: Route 83 near “Big Y” Plaza in Ellington

Central Connecticut

September 1

Roving Patrols: Interstate 84 east and westbound, west of Interstate 91, Route 66 in Middlefield

Sobriety Checkpoints: Interstate 91 Exit 6 on-ramp in New Haven

September 2

Roving Patrols: Interstate 91 north and southbound, north of Interstate 84, to include Route 291; Interstate 91 within troop I patrol area

September 3

Roving Patrols: Interstate 91 north and southbound, south of Interstate 84

Western Connecticut

September 1

DUI Sobriety Checkpoint: Route 6 at the Plymouth/Bristol town line

Roving Patrols: Route 8 in towns of Watertown, Torrington, Litchfield and Harwinton; Interstate 95 between New Haven & Stamford; and Route 25 and Route 8 between Bridgeport, Trumbull, Shelton; Route 8 and Interstate 84 exit 18 to exit 23 in the greater Waterbury area; Route 8 Limited Access Highway and Route 4 in Winsted, Barkhamsted, and New Hartford

September 2

Roving Patrols: Route 8 in towns of Watertown, Torrington, Litchfield and Harwinton; Interstate 95 between New Haven & Stamford; and Route 25 and Route 8 between Bridgeport, Trumbull, Shelton; Route 8 and Interstate 84 exit 18 to exit 23 in the greater Waterbury area; Route 7 and Route 44 in North Canaan, Falls Village and Norfolk
