Ledyard Residents Oppose Water Line Extension

The town was thinking about extending the Aljen Heights water line but residents say it's not necessary.

Ledyard residents on Oak Hills Trail likely put a stop on the town’s plan to extend a water line up to their part of town after about a dozen residents opposed the idea at a WPCA meeting.

According to a report in The Day, the Town Council is waiting for a recommendation from the WPCA before moving forward but that Oak Hill Trail residents, who rely on private wells and sewers, have said there is no need for the public water line.

Currently the Town is installing water lines in the Aljen Heights area and the $5.4 million project is coming in under budget. Town Planner Charles Karno proposed that the town take this opportunity to extend the water lines further but that may not come to pass.
