What's Your Vision For Gales Ferry?

The Economic Development Commission wants to hear your feedback about the proposed streetscaping plans in the Gales Ferry District.

 

The Economic Development Commission is holding a public hearing Thursday for all those interested in the future of the Gales Ferry District. The Town of Ledyard is preparing an application for a $500,000 grant to fund landscaping and enhancements in the district and they will present their vision for the district in a public forum Thursday.

“We have to get a feel from people interested in the area whether the economic development is going in the right direction,” said Town Planner Charlie Karno.

Planned streetscaping includes adding a sidewalk on both sides of Route 12 from McDonalds to Kartway, some kind of decorative gateway near Kartway and near Dunkin Donuts.  The full plans are available on the planning and development website.  

The forum is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the , which is located at 7 Hurlbutt Road.

According to Town Planner Charlie Karno, the entire plan is estimated to cost 1.5 million dollars.
