Ledyard Now 3-1 After Rescheduled Saturday Game vs. Stonington

Ledyard High School's Homecoming Game against Stonington, originally scheduled for Friday night, was moved to Saturday because of thunderstorms that threatened the region on Friday.

The move was fortuitous for the Ledyard. The Colonels' defense came up huge on Saturday, stopping Stonington twice deep in the red zone and limiting the Bears to just 115 total yards en route to a 19-0 victory.

Ledyard's running game, meanwhile, continued to flourish. ECC rushing leader Alex Manwaring and quarterback John Rainy combined for more than 300 yards on the ground. Each scored touchdowns in the first half.

With the win, Ledyard (3-1) bounced back from its only loss of the season vs. New London a week ago. The win snapped a three-game win streak for the 3-2 Bears.

The Colonels will travel to Bacon Academy next week for another Saturday game. The following week, Oct. 28, Ledyard hosts Montville, which suffered its first loss Friday against Griswold.
