– Columbus may have discovered America, but it’s time for you to discover Groton’s Seventh Annual Fall Festival, scheduled for Saturday, October 6, 2012.  This is a special community event created and hosted by the Groton Business Association (GBA) of the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce.

Groton’s Seventh Annual Fall Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is a rain or shine event.

The festival is held at Poquonnock Plains Park, located at 150 Fort Hill Road in the middle of Groton.  This will be the site of an Arts and Crafts Show, business displays, exhibits, food vendors and entertainment.

The entire festival site will become a circus of entertainment.  Featured will be AVCRAD’s Blackhawk helicopter in the center ring.  Children’s entertainer, Steve Elci, and his special group will occupy a ring of listening pleasure in the area of the children’s playground.  The Town of Groton Recreation Department will present a Goju Kan karate demonstration.  Stretch the Clown, sponsored by Q105, will bring smiles and laughs to everyone.

Two-time Freestyle Frisbee Champion Todd Brodeur will educate, entertain and motivate you with a captivating Frisbee show and an interactive play shop.

Guitarist Lou Manzi will also be entertaining attendees, as he roams the grounds of Poquonnock Plains Park.  Joining in him will be Jason Pipitone.

Elijah’s Magic will entertain you with two performances.  Gabriele’s Karate Kickbox Studio will have a demonstration.  The RE/MAX balloon will be ready for rides at 2:30 p.m.

Groton’s Fire Departments will celebrate Fire Prevention Week 2012 with special displays, exhibits, and vehicles.

Net proceeds from the festival will be used to support GBA events, including Groton’s Annual Holiday Lights Parade in December and projects throughout the year.

Presenting sponsors are Groton Utilities, Thames Valley Communications, the Town of Groton Recreation Department and radio station Q105.
