Updated: Six Ledyard Runners at Boston Marathon are Safe

Carol Rose, Tom and Steve Fagin, and three reported LHS grads who were scheduled to run in today's marathon are checking in as safe according to various sources on Facebook. 

Tom Fagin, 24, a former Ledyard resident and Patch contributor finished with an official time of 2:42:20 and Carol Rose, 63, finished with an official time of  3:48:22. 

Friends of Steve Fagin, a Ledyard resident, say he is fine though his finish time is not posted on the Boston Athletic Association's website.

Another friend posted to the Ledyard Patch Facebook, "Just to let you all know....all three LHS grads who ran the Boston Marathon today are safe...no injuries. The three grads are...Dave Baca, Todd Gothberg and Mike Lillie.

The Boston Marathon, usually an event of triumph and awe, broke into chaos today after two explosions occurred near the finish line. The race was more than half over (more than four hours in), according to authorities, who are reporting two fatalities and 28 people were injured by the explosions so far. 

According to the Boston Marathon’s website, two Ledyard residents and one former Ledyard resident entered the race. Tom Fagin, 24, a former Ledyard Patch contributor and former Ledyard resident ran and finished the race (Official Time: 2:42:20, congrats Tom!) His father Steve Fagin, 46, was scheduled to be in the 3 wave, 3 corral and wear bib # 20458. Carol Rose, 63, was scheduled to be in 2 wave, 9 corral and wearing bib # 17828.
