Ledyard Rallies in Second Half for Win

Colonels Storm Back After Whippets Dominate in First Half

For the Ledyard High School Colonels, Friday's 26-16 win against Windham was a tale of two halves.

Playing on a soggy field, the much improved Whippets owned the first half, jumping out to a 16-7 lead at the break, and forcing the home team to do some serious soul searching.

When the teams resumed play in the second half it was all Ledyard. The home team put up three scores behind the running of Alex Manwaring, who had another big night, and held Windham scoreless.

Manwaring scored twice in the game, and quarterback John Rainy also rushed for a couple of scores. Kicker Andrew Lee added two extra points on a wet and rainy night.

The 2-0 Colonels have a bye next week before taking on the Whalers at New London on Oct. 7. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
