Just Imagine What Could Happen If You Got Involved!

School has begun. Have you ever imagined how your time could support a better education and community for your child and all of the children of Ledyard? The time is now! Get involved!

The first day of school has come and gone. Now that we are all settled into a routine many parents are wondering how they can support their children, their teachers, and their schools.  Studies have proven over and over again that parent involvement in schools raises achievement for the entire building!

So you wonder how do I get involved?

Different families have different obstacles to getting involved in school.  Single parent families, dual working families, families with very young children, and just plain busy families all have obstacles to overcome and time commitments to manage. The best place in Ledyard to get involved in our schools is through the parent groups.  Each school building in our district has a parent group. Parent groups in Ledyard are always happy to have new volunteers, new ideas, and support of parents.

I am the president of Gallup Hill’s PTO. We LOVE volunteers. We are happy to have any level of involvement.  We appreciate even 15 minutes of your time. There are projects that can be done in the school building, at home, before school, after school, and/or at night. If you have time we have a place for you!

Just imagine what a difference could be made in our schools and in the support of our students if each of our almost 3,000 students had at least one parent that could donate 15 minutes each year. That would be 750 hours of parent involvement!  If those 3,000 parents have one hour of time that would be 3,000 hours of support for our students and their teachers! Just imagine what could be done.
