Men Build Boat For Ledyard Community Rowing
Five men are constructing a wooden boat in backyard shed
Five men meet a couple times a week at a Wendell Comrie Road home's shed to build "a 16-foot, two-seater dory," The Day reported.
boat-building class teacher, Russell Smith, works with Ed Berryman, Warren Dolphin, Frank Lavigueur, JP Gouzie out in his backyard shed by the heat of a wood stove to build a wooden boat for the Ledyard Community Rowing program.

According to the article, "the boat, which is made primarily out of 1/4-inch plywood, costs about $400 to build. A model 25-foot dory outside of the shed serves as a template for the men as they build the boat."
"That's the beauty of boat building. No boat turns out the same, it's pretty neat," Smith said in the article. "We take time to stand back and look at it because we want to make sure it looks good."
