Hopefully our town leaders get the message and pay attention to the facts at hand. We the voters…Read More have already voted, in 1986, to keep our dispatch and tax dollars here in Ledyard! This service works, it saves lives, so why change it? If any of the town leaders ever had to call 9-1-1 they would feel the same!

We should be…Read More making decisions on Independent Police and Dispatch rtention BEFORE we include jail cells and Dispatch space in the new building. The costs are suspect and the "needs" have not been specifically detailed. I AM in favor of a PD building that meets the needs of our fine Officers. But first things first.

It it binding in the northeast states however it is supported by many US Supreme Court decisions. (example: Glik v. Cunniffe)

Shouldn't decisions…Read More regarding the Dispatch center and providing the town with an Independent Police Department be decided on first, before we decide on the size and scope of a police station. Why include a dispatch area in the new police station if we don't know if we are or are not going to outsource the Dispatch Center? Two decisions that need to be made before this tax payer votes yes on the current proposal. And yes, our current police do deserve the proposed station, but they also deserve to be an Independent police force.
