Congratulations to all of the graduates for 2013. Mitchell College is a phenomenal collegeRead More experience for learning and development. It is one of southeastern Connecticut's academic centers of excellence. And Best wishes to Professor Jeff Turner in retirement for a wonderful and inspirational career at Mitchell. I took a Psychology course with Dr Turner many years ago and still remember his passion and style.
The cover of Sports Illustrated features NBA player Jason Collins and the headline: The Gay Athlete.
LiveForFreedom May 1, 2013 at 09:19 pm
When I watch the Boston Celtics or the Washington Wizards on NBA basketball the last thing I thinkRead More of is whether Jason Collins is gay. Jason Collins is a third string, back up center, 34 years old and sits on the bench. He had a 12-year career in the league and he is a free agent. He may never play again in the NBA, not because he is gay ... because he is too old. I wonder about the timing of this announcement such that announcing he is gay at this time will be a huge financial gain with endorsements for Collins. The media states he is the first but I will disagree. Billie Jean King and Martina Navratilova came out in 1981. Bille Jean King played professional women's singles until 1983. Olympian diver Greg Louganis told Oprah in a 1995 interview he was gay. These athletes were certainly much more well known and huge in their respective sports areas, unlike Collins who is relatively obscure.

Embarrassing.

Unless someone named Redy is mentioned in this story, (and there is not), then you've spelled READYRead More incorrectly.

GREAT MOVE JESSIE...Its great that you finally got around to be concerned about the runners andRead More updated your "less than sensitve" atricle to reflect that you weren't just concerned about the Ledyard runners loss of recognition due to the "EXPLOSION" as you put it.... PP...PATHETIC PATCH... Stay where you are JESSIE...you fit right in
Paul April 15, 2013 at 08:01 pm
Way to go Patch...pull yourself out from under the rock..you live under
Jim Hanna April 15, 2013 at 07:21 pm
Just what I would expect from the patch...People have been killed lost limbs etc, etc and they areRead More worried about recognition for ledyard runners...Way to go Patch ...you have outdone your sleazy reputation on this one...Congrats Elissa Bass ...Your values are showing

Since the patch has implemented their new version of the patch, Has anyone been pleased orRead More impressed. The normal communication with editors has been cut off, articles that you wanted to follow are " there appears to be nothing at this address", all personal comments have been deleted I.E. click on a profile and get "no comments left by this persons yet". This 2 line comment window REALLY SUCKS...In general the Patch upgrade has really FLOPPED and I see NO ONE...NOT ANYBODY from the patch offering any explanation... or plan on how they intend to fix it... If you agree pls send comment to elissa@patch.com... Friends have told me...THATS A WASTE OF TIME...Sorry to put this here , but there is no place else...This upgrade so far is a DOWNGRADE

That's Great for Ledyard but.. my feeling go out to all the other schools you are disparaging byRead More saying your better than them athletically . Doesn't this go against the educational systems awesome doctrine that no one is special or better than everyone else and they are all equal. I can't help but feel the pain and shed a tear for all the trauma suffered in all the other schools that fell short, Its shameful to gloat. Now say your sorry and give ALL those other schools trophies.
Ledyard High School is home of the Ledyard Colonels!

Really? So they can start banning sports because of injuries.
Just my opinion April 10, 2013 at 11:22 am
One big issue is even though my child plays school sports she plays travel sports so an injury fromRead More travel might not be recorded as travel and go under school making the study wrong. Many children play outside of school how would they make sure they have proper data. Maybe they should document something that they can be sure that the info they use is correct.
Mike Atkins April 8, 2013 at 07:45 am
@Sean, irrelevant, only because parents think their child is the next great athlete and are willingRead More to pay the thousands of dollars to get them a spot on a team. Typically many of those child athletes would have a difficult time making the HS team without Daddy's money.
