Gales Ferry Man Drowns In New Hampshire

The man jumped from the railroad trestle 30 feet down into the Saco River to swim, police said.

A 30-year-old Gales Ferry man drowned in New Hampshire over the weekend, according to the New Hampshire State Police – Marine Patrol.

Edward Foster (no address given), was pulled from the Saco River in Conway on the afternoon of July 13.

On July 13, 2013 at approximately 1:54 p.m., New Hampshire State Police - Marine Patrol dispatch received a call via 9-1-1 regarding three people who had jumped from the railroad trestle into the Saco River to swim. Two of the  three subjects resurfaced after jumping in from the 30-plus foot distance, but the third did not.  The two people began to yell for help.

Approximately 15 minutes later, the 30-year old male victim was recovered from the water a short distance downstream.  CPR was performed and he was transported to Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
