14-Year-Old Charged With Attempted Burglary

Police say teen tried to break in to two homes in the Highlands section of town.

Ledyard police charged a 14-year-old boy with attempted burglary on July 11 after he allegedly kicked in the door of two homes in the Highlands section.

The youth, who was not identified because of his age, was charged with Attempted Burglary 2nd Degree, Breach of Peace, and Criminal Mischief. 

Police said they received a call at about 9 p.m., July 11 from a resident saying :someone had just kicked his front door in what appeared to be an attempt to gain entry, and that person then fled."

Ledyard officers called for Stonington's K-9, which tracked the suspect to another house in the Highlands, where the boy was arrested. 
 
While investigating the initial complaint it was also learned that the same accused attempted to gain entry to another home in the same manner, police said.
