CVS To Break Ground Mid-April

The deal closes today, construction will take approximately five months.

CVS plans to purchase a lot on the corner of Hurlbutt Road and Route 12 in Gales Ferry and the $624,500 sale will close sometime today.

CVS will build a store where the playground of the former is now. Mayoral Assistant Mark Bancroft said the deal has been in the works for approximately three years.

"We're hoping that CVS will breed more development in the area," he said of the Gales Ferry district. "We're hoping it will impact the actions of and we're hoping it will bring more people in."

The nearest pharmacies are in Stop & Shop on Route 12 in Groton and CVS in Uncasville on the Norwich New London Turnpike.

Bancroft said a groundbreaking will take place sometime in the middle of April and he expects the construction to take approximately five months.

Excellent news! However, it takes about the same time to drive to Groton as it does to get to Gales Ferry from Ledyard Center. We need more 'everday' industry in this section of town as well!

I am glad to see new businesses in Gales Ferry. We sometimes feel left out from the main part of town.

CVS in Gales Ferry. This is a great step forward! Welcome to the beautiful town of Ledyard. Please do stop in to your local winery for a glass of wine, and enjoy the sunset with friends.

I'm thrilled! CVS will be right down the street from me, so yes I will switch over from Groton Stop and Shop. I am hoping that with CVS comes more establishments to bring up this area.
