Five Great Deals

Hearing Tests, Staples, CVS, Mystic Seaport, Mystic Boathouse.

We're all watching our family budgets these days. Whether shopping with coupons or looking for two-for-one deals, we're taking advantage of all sorts of offers and savings that help us stretch our dollars.This column gives you five great local deals each week to help your family’s bottom line. 1. Free Hearing Tests

Deal: Sears if offering free hearing tests to see if you just have wax in your ear or if you really need some help.  Call 1-800-995-8353 for an appointment.  Tests are offered Wednesday, August 24th and Thursday, August 25th.  Bring the kids and show them the video of their Otoscope Ear Inspection!

2. Staples

Deal: It is the most wonderful time of the year at Staples! This week I'm stocking up on 4GB SD memory cards for $10, an 8GB USB flash drive for $12.  I'm getting the paperwork in order before school with 50% off Staples letter/legal size storage bins.  Plus setting one up for 3 kids in elementary school and all their paperwork. $3 plastic storage crates, 25% off Skullcandy Ink'd earbuds and 25 cent poly binders.  There is a limit on some items but they have never given me a hard time about going back through the line again.  1 subject notebooks are a penny---Wednesday only.  BOGO on all Bic products. Buy any two and get one Bic product Free!

3. CVS

Deal: Get $10 in extra bucks when you spend $25 on Bounty ($9.99), Charmin (9.99) and Puffs (2/$3).  We all need paper, and not the school kind. You must use your CVS card though.  Also spend $30 on other select items like Fruit Bars, Cheerios, Planters nuts (also BOGO), Palmolive dish soap for 88cents, Allegra and Crest and get a $10 gas card.

 4. Mystic Seaport

Deal: August 28th is the last Free Sunday at Mystic Seaport.  Feel free to stroll the grounds from 5-8pm.  Exhibits are closed but it's a nice place to grab a sunset beverage or maybe bring your picnic.

5. The Mystic Boathouse

Deal: The Mystic Boathouse has live music every Wednesday and Saturday evenings.  They also have a Happy Hour drink specials from 4-6pm Monday thru Friday.  Food is served until midnight.  Always nice to have a non-fastfood option that's open late.  Visit www.themysticboathouse.com for information.
