Daily Five: Ledyard Center School Car Wash Saturday

Five things to know on Wednesday, May 23.

 

1. Today will maybe have thunderstorms after 3 p.m. with a high temperature of 76, according to the National Weather Service. And there’s a chance of showers before midnight, and a low of 59.

2. Pasqualini Construction, of Old Lyme, won the bid to replace the septic tank in the former Gales Ferry School. They bid $66,000 for the job with additional charges of $300 for the portable toilet and $500 for any additional cost to pump the existing tank. They’re replacing the tank this week. The next lowest bidder was Lombardi Gravel and Excavation, of Oakdale, which bid $72,500 for the job, $200 for the portable toilet and 25 cents/gallon to pump the existing tank.

3. Mayor John Rodolico sent out Requests for Quotes last week to emergency dispatch centers in Groton, Stonington, Montville, Mashantucket and Quinebaug Valley. .

4. Researchers at the University of Connecticut are looking for children ages 3 to 11 with Autism Spectrum Disorders to participate in a .  The study will compare the effects of two different novel play interventions on their motor and social communication skills.
