Five Things to Know Today

Moms Chat, 19 is Lucky Number, LMS Gym, School Budget Tonight

  1. It’s Wednesday, and that means “Moms Chat” returns at 1 p.m. The topic this week is television. Just think what we might have become had we not spent 60 hours a week parked in front of the tube when we were kids? Now that we are parents, is history repeating itself?
  2. Foxwoods turned 19 on Tuesday. Remember when it first opened? It’s been quite an amazing run for the world’s largest casino.
  3. Students and staff at Ledyard Middle School will be allowed back into the cafeteria and gymnasium today for the first time since Friday, when a “loud noise” led to the decision to place the cafeteria and gym off-limits.
  4. For months now Andrea McKenzie has been telling us how much she loves homeschooling her four kids. In today’s column she reveals “the rest of the story.”
  5. Gov. Dan Malloy presents his budget today, and the Ledyard Board of Education will consider its $29.6 million budget proposal for 2011-12 tonight at 7 p.m. The hope is that one will not undermine the other. Check our story on Thursday.
