Five Things to Know Today

Power of Social Media, Children's Author Fred Neff, Two Great Pets

  1. Sunshine and some clouds today, high temperature 42F. Rain showers in the evening, becoming a steady light rain overnight. Low 36F.
  2. At the Ledyard Town Council meeting Wednesday night, Councilor Linda Davis commended the Parks & Recreation Department and also plugged the power of social media when she reported that the department recently used Facebook to solicit a volunteer to clear snow off the town skating rink. “They had a volunteer in five minutes,” she said.
  3. Two weeks after the Ledyard Town Council voted to stay with the Ledge Light Health District, East Lyme did the same.
  4. Children's author Fred Neff will speak at Bill Library tonight, from 7-8:30 p.m. Neff will discuss the background of his “Calvin and Dad” books, which chronicle ordinary adventures of a child with his father.
  5. Looking for a great pet? How about two great pets? Look no further than the Ledyard Animal Shelter, where Faith and Sophie (pictured) are waiting to go home with their new owner.
