Five Things to Know Today

Special Town Meeting on Wednesday, Used Book Sale, Student Riots

  1. Cloudy skies and warm today, with areas of dense fog. High near 65F. Winds SSW at 15 to 25 mph. Tonight mostly cloudy, with isolated thunderstorms developing overnight. Low 54F.
  2. Big week coming up in Ledyard. On Wednesday there will be a special town meeting to vote on the sale of a portion of the former Gales Ferry property. The sale is the first step toward allowing a CVS pharmacy to move into Gales Ferry.
  3. Then on Saturday, April 16, a grand re-opening celebration will take place at the Paddock. You may recall a fire closed the equestrian center on Rose Hill Road back in November. Watch for our report.
  4. The Groton Public Library book sale begins today and will continue through Thursday, April 14. Help support the library by finding great bargains on used books, CDs and DVDs!
  5. I saw this on the New London Patch and it was too good not to share. New London editor Dirk Langeveld may not be a huge UConn Huskies fan, but who doesn’t enjoy a good student riot now and then?
