Five Things to Know Today

Storm Coverage Continues, No School Today, Two Important Meetings, CVS Hearing

  1. It looks like a beautiful day ahead. Mostly sunny skies. High 77F. Winds WSW at 10 to 20 mph. Tonight clear with a low near 60F.
  2. How are we doing? We will continue today with our hurricane aftermath coverage, including road closings and lots of photos of storm damage. We can tell you that for those who are without power, it could be a few days.
  3. Ledyard teachers who had been scheduled to start back to work today have been given a one-day reprieve. Enjoy your last day of summer vacation. Kids go back Thursday, Sept. 1.
  4. Two important meetings are set for Tuesday, Aug. 30 – provided they are not postponed by the Irene cleanup: Jazzercise and Beavers. (I wonder how those beavers did on Sunday?)
  5. The Zoning Commission last week set a Sept. 22 public hearing on a proposal for a new CVS pharmacy at the former Gales Ferry School property on Route 12.
