The Sox, The Rays, Coffee, Coffee, Birthday Boy

  1. Rain showers in the morning today with scattered thunderstorms arriving in the afternoon. A few storms may be severe. High 73F. Winds SE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 60 percent. Tonight scattered thunderstorms early. Skies will become mainly clear overnight. Low 61F.
  2. How 'bout those Red Sox? (Although only a third of our poll-takers believed Boston would win.) The Rays, meanwhile won in 12 innings after trailing 7-0 in the 8th. Next year.
  3. Today is National Coffee Day, according to 7-Eleven, and to celebrate you can get a free coffee there (or cappuccino or latte) today from 7-11 a.m.  There is a 7-Eleven on Broad Street, New London, and also Route 32 in Uncasville.
  4. On a related topic, the Ledyard Economic Development Commission on Tuesday heard a proposal for a coffee shop at the site of the former Ledyard Fire Department.
  5. Henry Thorndike is 5 today. (His grandmother gave him that hat.) Happy Birthday Henry!
