Bring on the Snow

The snow is beginning to pile up and the schools are out for the weekend- any child’s dream. But I am especially thankful for this day off.

            Last year, I spent a lot of my time writing and blogging on here (the Patch), something I really enjoy doing. But since school started, I’ve been so busy that I haven’t had time. In highest level classes (plus an AP class), sports, clubs, and being class president, my free time seems to be very limited. Most of the time, I feel like all I do is read and study. I’m not complaining because I do love school, but it’s just a lot sometimes.

            Less than a year ago, I blogged about a fishing trip with your family and how you need to spend time with the ones you love. But, I’ve been so caught up in school and activities that I haven’t been sharing as much time with my own family as I should be.

            Yesterday I was reminded about the importance of decision making, and what is the best thing to do is not always the easiest. I’ve realized that this process and the choices we make out of it are different for all of us depending on our situation and ourselves as people.

            So, though I will spend time studying this long weekend, I will also spend time with my family and my grandparents, who are here from New York. I know this is the right decision for me right now. No matter what age you are, sometimes you need to just take a breath and relax. It’s easy to get caught up and forget to slow down.

            So, I recommend taking this snowy weekend off and sharing some time with the ones you love. Put in a movie, start up a new game of Monopoly, or make a snow man. My family has stew and cornbread already made, and plans for a movie weekend. What will you do with yours?
