I told myself that I wasn't going to blog about the holidays. But today, I explained to my coworkers why I had purchased a Menorah over the weekend. I am not Jewish. I was not raised Jewish and I have no Jewish blood relatives. I was raised Christian and I am now a spiritual Wiccan.
So why did I purchase a Menorah?
My almost 6 year old wanted to light one this year.

You see, I do not believe in deciding someones religion for them or pushing them towards one. I share my beliefs with my kids but I do not ask them to worship with me. I have left it to them to ask me. I do allow them to be exposed to various religions.
Lately, my son has been asking questions. It started with CCD, as many of his friends are Catholic. Then he asked about the Menorah. So this year it's a secular Christmas, Yule, and Chanukah. We have a count up calendar, a tree, and best of all, our Menorah...By the way it is a very cool moose!
