Connecticut Firefighters Battle Wildfires in Montana

A team of Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and private-sector firefighters head from Eastern Connecticut to Montana today to help the U.S. Forest Service fight a wildfire in Colorado

A crew of 20 Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEEP) firefighters left in the wee hours of the morning from the DEEP Eastern District Headquarters in Marlborough to help the U.S. Forest Service fight wildfires in Montana.

The crew includes 12 DEEP staffers and eight private-sector firefighters, all of whom are certified to fight forest and wildfires. The crew will be deployed for two weeks battling the West Garceau fire near Polson, Montana. The last time DEEP deployed a fire crew was to Virginia in June.
