On April 8, at 2:12 a.m., Ledyard Police stopped Walter D. Swepson Jr., 42, of 187 Slater Ave., Griswold, who was driving north on Route 12 near Chapman Lane in Gales Ferry. Police said Swepson was exceeding the posted speed limit. He was subsequently charged with speeding and driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. His bond was set at $500 and he was given an April 19 court date in New London.
