UPDATE: Route 214 Is Reopened

Update: Ledyard Police report Route 214 is reopened at 11 a.m.

A one-car crash on Route 214 Sunday night resulted in no injury to the driver, but an AT&T pole was destroyed, Ledyard police said Monday.

Lt. Michael Finkelstein of the Ledyard Police Dept. reported that the call came in at 11:46 p.m., Sunday that a car had hit a pole on Route 214 (Iron Street) in the area of Spicer Hill Rd.

The Ledyard Police Department, Ledyard Fire Department, and Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad responded. "Emergency personnel found that a single vehicle had left the roadway striking a AT&T pole causing heavy damage to the pole and no injury to the vehicle operator," Finklestein said in a press release.

The driver was identified as Christine Haas, 33, of Gales Ferry. 

The accident remains under investigation by the Ledyard Police Department. 

As a result of the downed utility pole, RT 214 is estimated to be closed until early afternoon on January 16, 2012.
