Three Juveniles Charged With Burglarizing Cars in Garage at Foxwoods

On June 19, at 2:13 a.m., Allen M. Thibodeau, 31, of 871 Long Cove Road, Gales Ferry, was traveling north on Route 12 at a high rate of speed, police said. He was stopped and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and speeding. His bond was set at $500.

On June 18, at 4:36 a.m., Ledyard police responded to 32H Flintlock Road for a reported domestic disturbance. While en route, a female caller stated her husband had become physical with her. Police said the woman reported that her husband had told 911 that police had better be ready for a “suicide by cop.”

Ledyard police arrived and were obliged to taser Jason Wiernga, 37, of 55 Crouch Street, Groton, after he refused to comply with commands. He was transported by ambulance to Backus Hospital, and charged with third-degree assault, interfering with police, breach of peace and criminal mischief. His court date was June 20.

Police said the woman caller, Caron Wiernga, 28, of 32H Flintlock Roadway, was visibly upset and had marks on her face from where she had been struck.  She refused treatment from Ledyard ambulance personnel. Police said the suspect apparently had broken down two doors to gain entry.

Also on June 18, police said three juveniles were caught going through vehicles inside the MGM Grand Foxwoods parking garage. All three youths were charged with sixth-degree larceny.

On June 17, at 6:51 p.m., Rolex Metellus, 53, of 3 Crocker Hill, Ledyard, was stopped on Route 117 and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, operating an unregistered vehicle, traveling unreasonably fast for conditions, disregarding a no-passing zone and operating with defective windshield wipers. His bond was set at $500.
