Police Blotter: Four Hospitalized in Head-On Crash

Man Under Car Treated for Injuries

On Sunday, Aug. 21, at 1:45 p.m., Ledyard Police responded to a head-on, two-vehicle crash on Route 117 in the area of Sablewoods Drive that sent four people to the hospital.

Police said a 2010 Toyota Prius driven by Nattee Ting, 58, of 198 Spicer Hill Road, was traveling south on Route 117 when his vehicle crossed into the northbound lane, striking a 1995 Honda Passport operated by Villaroso Agbayani, 74, of 1 Fitch Ave., Groton. 

The four patients were transported to both Lawrence and Memorial and William W .Backus hospitals with non- life threatening injuries. Extrication was required to remove one of the vehicle occupants.

In addition to Ledyard Police, the Ledyard Fire Company, Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad, Groton Ambulance, American Ambulance, and a Lawrence and Memorial Hospital Paramedic responded.

The investigation into this accident continues and enforcement action is pending.

Man Under Car

Also on Sunday, at 2:04 p.m., Ledyard Police received a 911 call from a passerby reporting that a man was under a vehicle in the driveway of a residence on Meetinghouse Lane and appeared to be injured.

Ledyard Police responded, along with the Ledyard Fire Company, Gales Ferry Fire Department , Mashantucket Fire Department, and American Ambulance. The man was transported by American Ambulance to the William W. Backus Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The Ledyard Police Department Patrol and Detective Division, as well as the State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad, are conducting an investigation into the origin of those injuries. This incident remains under investigation.
