Ledyard Police Dog Visits Montville Law Students

Students were impressed by dog's skills and strength.

 

Ledyard Police Officers Daniel Gagnon and his 120-pound K-9 partner, Ringo, spoke to students in a law class at Montville High School.

Gagnon said the 7-year-old German shepherd is trained to do important tasks like find missing people, narcotics and evidence but Ringo sees things differently.

"It's all a game to him," said Gagnon. "He thinks he'll find his toy." 

The high school students were impressed after Ringo demonstrated his sniffing skills and apprehended Karen Moorehead, the school's resource officer, on command.

Ringo is one of two K-9 officers at the . Ringo's expertise has been needed in Ledyard and by surrounding towns approximately 25-30 times in 2012, according to Gagnon.
