Firefighters Remove Door of Minivan to Rescue Trapped Victim

Ledyard Police said a woman became trapped in her minivan and needed to be extricated after she struck a tree on Shewville Road at around 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

She was transported by ambulance to Backus Hospital in Norwich with minor injuries.

In addition to Ledyard Police, Ledyard Fire Company #1, Mashantucket Fire Department and American Ambulance responded to the crash, which occured in the vicinity of Town Farm Road.

Based upon investigation into this accident, Fetzer was cited for traveling too fast for conditions and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
