Ledyard Voters Approve Budget, Police Station

The budget passed by a large margin, the police station was a closer race.

The two items on Tuesday’s ballot were approved by a majority of residents who voted. Residents approved annual town budget and the proposed new police station.

According to a report in The Day newspaper, the $50.1 million budget passed 611 to 172 and the police station passed with a much smaller margin of 413 to 374.    Next year’s budget is about 2 percent more than this year’s and the taxes are projected to increase by about three-tenths of a mill and bring the tax rate up to 28.22 mill.
