Ledyard Athletes Are Above Average

More students at LHS play sports than the state average.

The number of high school students who participate in interscholastic sports at Ledyard High School is 557 students, which is 59 percent of the student body, according to high school principal Amanda Fagan.

“It speaks volumes about the commitment that our student athletes have in broadening their perspective,” she said.

Ledyard’s 59 percent is 13.5 percent more than the state average of 45.5 percent.

Three out of five students at Ledyard High School participate in a sport, which according to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michael Graner, “that is something to be proud of.”

This year alone, there were 47 more students playing at least one sport than last year.

“Our numbers are really nice,” said Fagan.
